Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court achieves highest possible rating by Care Inspectorate Wales

Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, in Porthcawl, has been awarded the highest possible rating of Excellent across all four domains by care regulator Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), with no areas for improvement identified.

Following its latest inspection, the Home was rated Excellent for Wellbeing, Care & Support, Environment, and Leadership & Management. Home Manager Teresa Picton says:

Inspectors highlighted the Home’s strong person-centred culture, noting that residents experience “exceptionally positive wellbeing outcomes” and are treated with dignity and respect. People living at the Home reported feeling safe, valued and actively involved in decisions about their daily lives, with care plans tailored to reflect their individual preferences, histories and aspirations.

Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court’s environment was described as “exceptional”, offering a safe, comfortable and engaging setting with a wide range of facilities to support residents’ wellbeing, independence and social interaction.

Supported by highly-skilled staff

CIW further commended the Home’s leadership and management, recognising a clear vision, a culture of openness and inclusion, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Staff were found to be highly trained, well supported and valued in their roles, contributing to a positive and caring atmosphere throughout the Home.

The report also praised the high quality of care and support provided by staff, who demonstrated an excellent understanding of residents’ needs. Feedback from relatives and visiting professionals was overwhelmingly positive, with one relative commenting:

I know I can leave here at night and not be anxious about how he’s going to be looked after.
