Residents at Devonshire Court, in Oadby, were determined not to let the pandemic prevent them from marking the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
The Home’s staff are working tirelessly to keep residents safe and well, setting up regular phone and video calls between residents and their families and doing everything they can to keep up morale.
On Friday, staff organised two VE Day ‘street parties’, one indoors and one outside the Home, so that everyone had a chance to join in the celebrations. Residents enjoyed a cream tea and a glass of bubbly and later joined the nation in singing ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
Home Activities Coordinator, Fee Collins, says:
“We were determined not to let these difficult times prevent us from marking the anniversary of VE Day, it meant such a lot to our residents. It was a great day which lifted everyone’s spirits.”
