A ‘choccy’ good day for Prince George Duke of Kent Court’s residents

Britain is a nation of chocolate lovers. We eat an estimated 660,900 tonnes of chocolate a year in Britain, which is an average of 11kg per person per year. So it was only fitting for care home residents in Chislehurst to indulge in a little cocoa to honour Britain’s chocolatey habits.

Residents at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, in Chislehurst, enjoyed an array of chocolate treats from all over the world, including Madagascar and the Dominican Republic.

Taste is a powerful sense and our residents loved learning about the history of chocolate and other facts during our interactive quiz. The event created a lot of laughter and nostalgia of our residents’ own experiences of their favourite chocolates and sweets from childhood,

said Activities Coordinator Diane Connor.

Resident Jean Mountford said:

I looked at them and couldn’t make my mind up, so I took one each!

Resident Stevie said:

They were so nicely presented. I don’t normally eat chocolate, but I thought I’d give myself a little treat!
