Residents at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, in Porthcawl, recently received a brand new minibus. The vehicle will allow residents to continue their trips and make new memories with support from the Home’s staff. The gift is a donation from the Home’s Association of Friends, an independent charity made up of volunteers that has been supporting Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court since it first opened its doors 50 years ago.
The Association of Friends had already donated a minibus 12 years ago. However, they decided it was time they presented the residents with a brand new minibus for them to enjoy.
Gherold Davies, Vice Chairman of The Association of Friends of Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, says:
Our Chairman, Phillip Aubrey, felt it important to replace the old minibus and, after assiduous fundraising, we were able to do so.
It is very important for the residents to have access to the local seaside, shops, pubs and recreational areas, to keep them involved in their local community.
The Association of Friends regularly supports the Home through donations and fundraising events. In recent years, they have donated a conservatory, a greenhouse and a sensory table, and singers and performers come in frequently to entertain the residents and support their wellbeing.
