Prince George Duke of Kent Court Home Manager wins Registered Manager Award at Great British Care Awards

Nina Stephens, Care Home Manager at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, in Chislehurst, Kent has been named Registered Manager at the National Great British Care Award Finals, in Birmingham. The awards ceremony, celebrated in March this year, paid tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work in the care sector. All finalists at the event went through after winning in their respective categories in the regional finals.

Nina Stephens, Home Manager at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, says:

I am thrilled to win this award which embodies everything that we do in our Home every day and it is lovely for my work to be recognised by both the judges and my very supportive peers. It is a complete privilege to share the celebration of this award with our wonderful residents and my dedicated team at Prince George Duke of Kent Court.

The judges said:

Nina is an incredibly inspirational woman, speaking with deep passion and sincerity about the changes she has made at her care home. Her love for her job and dedication to making a difference in residents’ lives is evident. We were moved by Nina’s mantra, ‘sandcastles,’ reminding us to cherish the present moment. What truly stood out was Nina’s unwavering commitment to supporting her carers—advocating for pay raises, addressing ULEZ charges, and setting up a food bank, demonstrating extraordinary compassion and leadership.

Prince George Duke of Kent Court has recently received an EMBRACE Dementia Accreditation for outstanding support, care and attention dedicated to residents living with dementia and their loved ones. The accreditation was revealed by The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Dr David Barrington Jefferys, in an official ceremony at the care home.

Denise O’Brien, Regional Manager for the central region and former Home Manager at Cornwallis Court, in Bury St Edmunds; Simon Doherty, Home Manager at The Tithebarn, in Liverpool; and Tonya Bibby, Clinical Nurse Manager at James Terry Court, in South Croydon also attended the ceremony after winning awards in their regional finals.

Nina Stephen’s award builds upon the charity’s success from last year where Juliet McNeilly, Home Manager at Devonshire Court, in Leicester won the Dementia Carer Award at the 2024 Great British Care Award Finals.
