Prince Michael of Kent Court staff celebrates ‘outstanding training’ award

Kelly Harrowing, Training Manager at Prince Michael of Kent Court in Watford, has been recognised for her exceptional work in staff training and development. She was presented with an award for ‘Outstanding Performance in Training and Development’ by Managing Director Mark LLoyd on behalf of the charity.

The award acknowledges her hard work and commitment involved in delivering high-quality training to care staff. Kelly highlighted the importance of teamwork in achieving this success and thanked Home Manager Beverley Roberts and the entire team at Prince Michael of Kent Court, symbolically sharing the award with them.

Kelly has worked for the Home since it opened in 1994 starting as a Care Assistant and has covered a variety of roles including Activities Coordinator and Team Leader; and later became the Training Manager in April 2023.

Kelly also holds sessions for the residents so they have a greater understanding of the needs of their peers. The sessions cover a range of topics including Dementia Awareness and Fire Safety.

Resident Jean who has lived at the Home since 2020, took part in a dementia awareness session and commented:

I found the session to be very informative and a real eye-opener to the way that dementia can affect a person.

The Home has recently increased its dementia care services and the training and information sessions support the care team, the residents and their families to better understand dementia and how it can impact a person and those around them.
