Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court staff obtains Queen’s Nurse Award for high standards of care

Emily Rock, Clinical Nurse Manager at Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court, in Wokingham (Berkshire), has achieved the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse by The Queen’s Nursing Institute. The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) is a registered charity dedicated to improving the nursing care of people in their own homes and communities.
The title demonstrates a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities and a shared professional identity.

Emily says:
Receiving this award reflects not only my professional development, but also the fulfilment I take in supporting residents to live with dignity, comfort and respect. I am passionate about encouraging residents to engage in positive risk taking, empowering them to maintain independence and be involved within their care.
What I enjoy most about being a nurse is building meaningful relationships, making each day as happy and fulfilling as possible through care, kindness and compassion. This award motivates me to continue striving for excellence in nursing practice.
While still working at RMBI Care Co., Emily studied at the University of West London and qualified with First Class Honours in Mental Health Nursing in 2018. She went on to become a full time nurse at Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court, where she has since been promoted to Clinical Lead.
As the Clinical Lead, Emily leads the nursing team with management and guidance to ensure that clinical practices across the Home are in line with NMC and CQC. She also conducts a wide range of activities, including writing and auditing of care plans, reordering of medication, conducting supervisions and appraisals of those working in the nursing service, and identifying training and development needs.

Being a Queen’s Nurse myself, I am aware this achievement demonstrates how dedicated she is in her role as Clinical Nurse Manager.
Jordi became a Registered Nurse back in 2014 and has extensive experience in social care. At RMBI Care Co. he has worked as Senior Nurse, Deputy Manager and Clinical Lead before becoming the National Clinical Governance Lead. He also has a degree in forensic anatomy and pathology. In 2023, he also obtained the title of Queen’s Nurse by The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
