Connaught Court, York

I could not be happier with the care and attention my husband receives. He relies totally on the care staff for everything and they could do no more to ensure he has the best life possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Wife of a resident at Connaught Court

Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, Connaught Court is located close to the city centre in York and provides residential care, nursing and residential dementia support. We can support up to 94 residents with permanent care or short stay respite breaks.

We provide individual care, which means we take the time to get to know each of our residents, so we can understand what matters to them and how best we can support them.

– Marinda Aydinalp, Home Manager

Staffing

Connaught Court can support up to 46 people in the residential area of our Home. We have ten experienced carers during the day, which includes four staff in the morning and three in the afternoon, supported by two senior carers and a Senior Shift Leader. During the night, we have two carers who are supervised by a senior carer and a Shift Leader.

We have three Dementia Houses. Fred Crosland House can accommodate up to 10 residents. During the day there are two carers who work alongside a Senior Shift Leader and one at night, managed by a senior carer.

Knavesmire House can support up to 16 residents, who are supervised by a Senior Shift Leader. During the day there are three carers and one carer at night; each shift is supported by a senior carer.

Ebor, our most recent Dementia House, can accommodate up to seven residents with advanced dementia. Residents are cared for by a senior carer and two carers during the day, and one at night. They are supported two days a week by an experienced senior carer working supernumerary hours.

Our nursing area can provide care for up to 15 people and is managed by a Registered Nurse, who leads a team of three care staff during the day and one at night.

Most of our care staff have achieved, or are working towards an NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care. We have an experienced Management team comprising of two trained nurses, and managers with many years of experience in health and social care.

We have a 24-hour nurse call system installed in all our residents’ rooms. Some of the residents have a personal alarm to carry, so they can call for assistance if required.

We have two dedicated Activities Coordinators who organise a variety of activities as well as trips outside the Home, to support our residents’ health and wellbeing.

We also have staff who are fluent Thai, Nepalese, Indian, Latvian, Filipino, Bulgarian, Polish, Malay, Turkish, Indonesian, Algerian, Italian and Mandarin speakers.

Please note that the level of care each person receives will depend on their individual needs. This is continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure each person receives the right level of care. Staffing levels may be adjusted in different areas of the Home to support the level of care required by residents at any particular point in time.
