Residents hold up rainbow art to thank key workers at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court

Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court residents thank key workers with rainbow art

Residents at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, in Stisted, Essex, were busy this week creating an enormous rainbow poster to thank the Home’s staff and key workers in the local community.

Like most other care homes, Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court is closed to all but essential visitors because of the threat of Coronavirus to its residents.

Among the residents taking part was Vera Smith, 88, (pictured) who put her best foot forward into some blue poster paint with the help of Activities Co-ordinator, Dani Lane.

The finished colourful artwork was later hung outside the Home on Kings Lane for all to see. Activities Coordinator, Dani Lane, said:

“We did it to make all of our amazing staff and the key workers who come to our home and support our residents feel appreciated. It was a great fun for everyone, though the residents thought I was absolutely crazy when I was explaining to them what we were going to do!”

“Our residents are coping very well under the circumstances and we’re doing everything we can to keep up morale and to support our residents’ wellbeing. Some of them don’t understand the situation, but some do, and they just say to us don’t worry as we have been through worse than this.”
