Winter gardening brings joy for Cadogan Court residents

Green fingered residents at Cadogan Court, in Exeter, have been busy planting an indoor plant display this week.

Throughout the pandemic, kind-hearted staff at the Home have been going all out to boost morale for their residents, with lots of activities designed to keep residents mentally and physically active.

A gardening club was launched in the summer which residents have enjoyed enormously. This week they planted a display of colourful potted plants for the balcony of the Home’s dining room to bring cheer to everyone during the Winter months.

Activities Coordinator, Emma Allan, said:

Some of our residents love gardening, so we launched our gardening club at the start of the summer to enable them to enjoy their passion for plants. This week our ladies were so happy to get their hands dirty as they planted pansies, primroses, and cyclamen. They’ve taught me a thing or two about gardening and now we have a balcony of flowers that everyone can enjoy through the winter.

It’s been really wonderful to see the positive affect that gardening has on our residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.
