Prince George Duke of Kent Court Clinical Lead wins Great British Care Awards in the Palliative Care / End of Life category for the London region

Kim Fletcher, our Clinical Lead Nurse at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, in Chislehurst, has been voted a winner of the Great British Care Awards. Kim has been recognised in the Palliative Care/End of Life category for the London region. The awards are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. She says:

I am immensely proud and grateful to receive this award; not just for me, but for the team at Prince George Duke of Kent Court. It comes on the back of what was an unprecedented year for us all.

This recognition reflects Kim’s passion for delivering the best end of life care at Prince George Duke of Kent Court. From our residents and their families to our staff at the Home, she goes above and beyond to offer much needed guidance, reassurance and a calming presence.

Kim recalls the challenges of providing end of life care during the 2020 pandemic.

She says:

Despite the sorrow we faced, we were there, comforting and supporting our residents as well as their loved ones from afar. We were able to facilitate a daughter living in Spain to be with her father during his last hours through a video call. She talked to him and played his favourite Shirley Bassey tunes. He knew she was there whilst we held his hand.
