Residents and staff at Zetland Court, in Bournemouth, took part in ‘Wear it Pink’ this week as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Showing their support, they dressed up in pink attire and enjoyed pink cakes for their afternoon tea, raising over £300 for the charity Breast Cancer Now.
To give the Home a fitting look for the occasion, residents and staff decorated Zetland Court in pink flowers, balloons and bunting. In addition, they had raffles where residents and staff won several prizes, including a giant cuddly bear. Nina Ansell, aged 100, who won the cuddly bear, said:
How delightful to win something!
Karen Casey, one of Zetland Court’s Activities Coordinators, said:
We invited our residents and staff to take part in ‘Wear it Pink’ this week and they certainly didn’t disappoint! Some of them have been affected by breast cancer, so it’s a cause that is really close to our hearts. There was a lot of laughter, so it was just what we needed.
