Kind-hearted staff at Devonshire Court, in Leicester, pulled out all the stops this week to create lots of Christmas cheer for their residents.
The team held their very own Winter Wonderland at the Home, complete with a live brass band, a choir of carol singers, a reindeer, and a visit from the man himself, Father Christmas.
Cheerful residents Audrey Turner and Joan Watts meeting Father Christmas and George the reindeer
Residents enjoyed lots of fun games outdoors, while keeping warm with hot chocolate drinks and mince pies and having the chance to meet and pet George, the reindeer from The Phoenix Children’s Foundation.
As well as meeting some of the residents safely outside, the friendly reindeer was led around the outside of the Home, so that others could see them from their rooms.
Among the residents who loved meeting George, was 99 year old Phyllis Mills. She said:
George looked wonderful! His visit really lifted everyone’s spirits!
One of Devonshire Court Activities Coordinators, Claire Barrett, said:
It was so heart-warming to see the residents faces when they saw Father Christmas and his reindeer!
