Types of Care

Choosing a care home, whether it’s for yourself or a loved one, is an important decision. We know it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with paperwork and all the different types of care available today, so we’re here to help you along the way.

We provide residential care, nursing care and residential dementia support and we have been supporting older people for over 180 years.

When a person moves into one of our Homes, we’ll carry out an assessment to understand what type of care the person requires and whether we can meet their care needs. Our management staff have been carefully trained to take you and your family through the process, step by step, from the moment you get in touch with us.

We keep residents at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to support each person to stay as independent as possible but feel reassured that help is at hand if and when they need it. Each Home has a fully serviced kitchen with on-site chefs and a catering team, who make fresh and wholesome meals every day of the week. We also have a dedicated Activities Coordinator in each Home, who arrange a series of fun activities and day trips, to support our residents’ health and wellbeing, helping them to stay active in their community.

It’s been a big change in our lives and the staff here have made us so welcome. We have no worries or concerns, which is very comforting to know my mum is in safe hands.

The care given to my mum has been wonderful. She is loved and looked after with attention to her individual needs. I am able to leave her knowing she is in safe hands.

Moving into a care home doesn’t mean giving up your independence. In fact, many of our residents say it has helped them to stay confident, knowing that help and support is available. They also enjoy socialising with others and getting involved in lots of activities.

We take care of the everyday chores, giving our residents time to do enjoy life and other interests. Our care team can assist with everyday personal care including support with washing, dressing and mealtimes, as well as offering a range of activities to help our residents keep active and most of all, have fun.

We take time to find out about our residents, so that we can build a care plan around their needs; including likes, dislikes, hobbies, previous careers and past experiences. Every person’s story matters and we’re here to help our residents continue to have memorable experiences when they move into one of our Homes.

Nursing care

Our nurses are trained to deliver a more specialist level of support which promotes the health and wellbeing of our residents with more complex care or health needs.

This type of care is for residents who require 24 hours support from a registered nurse. An assessment will be carried out to determine which type of care a person requires, before they move into the Home.

At RMBI Care Co. we also have a National Clinical Governance Lead, who helps to advance our charity strategically, as well as providing clinical support to our Home Managers, ensuring safe and effective care for our residents.

There is great companionship here and I feel part of a community group. The staff is sincere and trustworthy.

Each person living with dementia will experience a different journey. At times, it can be difficult for both the person living with dementia, their family and friends.

We are members of Dementia Action Alliance, which brings together organisations across England, who are committed to transforming outcomes for people affected by dementia. We are also involved in a number of wider research projects to help understand and improve the outcomes for people living with dementia and their loved ones.

Most of our Homes provide a dedicated area within the Home called a ‘Dementia Support House’ with staff that are trained to support our residents with dementia. We strongly believe that people living with dementia can still lead an active and fulfilled life. Our services, including the activities that we provide, are geared towards caring for residents in a safe environment that promotes their health and wellbeing.

We take the time to get to know each resident and our Dementia Support Houses provide a safe and friendly environment that encourages reminiscence, including sensory gardens, cafes and old fashioned sweet shops.

At RMBI Care Co. we also have a Pharmacy Dementia Specialist Lead, who helps to advance our charity strategically, as well as providing ongoing support for the dementia services in our Homes. To find out more about our dementia services, visit our Dementia zone.

Respite stays

A respite stay is when a person, who normally lives at home, comes for a short stay at one of our Homes.

There are different reasons why a person may come for a short period. It can allow families or careers to have a rest from taking care of a loved one. It can also be a good option to help a person recover following a hospital stay, or to experience what life is like in the Home, before making the decision to move in permanently.

Many of our Homes are set in picturesque locations; some with access to beautiful landscaped gardens or near the beach, making them ideal for a short break.

As part of your stay, you’ll have access to our facilities and health care services. Our staff will provide you with the care and support you need to get back on your feet. Short stay breaks are offered subject to availability.

End of life care

Caring for someone during the final stages of their life requires specialist skills, as well as compassion and understanding. Our staff are carefully trained to support residents and their families during this difficult time, to respect and uphold a person’s dignity.

We can provide practical support with any arrangements to help our residents and their families feel as comfortable as possible.

This can include providing information about the physical changes and signs a person might experience during the final stages of life and advice about how relatives can best support their loved one.

Every person is different and we are committed to working closely with each person and their families to find out their wishes and what is best for them.
