Residents and staff at Scarbrough Court, in Cramlington, Northumberland, have embarked on a 161 mile virtual Bikeathon across England in two days to raise funds for their wellbeing kitty.
Among those contributing some peddle power was resident David Weaver. He said:
Cycling has kept me fit for years! I’ve enjoyed the challenge.
The Home came up with the idea of the Bikeathon, which had two aims: to encourage both residents and staff to keep active using the Home’s indoor exercise bike to support health and wellbeing. And to raise funds for wellbeing activities at the Home.
Project U Fitness Gym in Blyth kindly loaned Scarbrough Court one of their C2 Cycles to complete the challenge of over 160 miles and helped to reach the overall target of £300.
Scarbrough Court Activities Coordinator, Stacey Hunter, said:
It’s been a great way for our residents to keep active in a safe, supported environment. Having the fundraising target has proven to be a great incentive for everyone to go that extra mile!
