Kind-hearted Doncaster boy raises £300 for Harry Priestley House residents by getting his hair cut

An eleven year old boy has raised £300 for residents at Harry Priestley House in Thorne, Doncaster, by having his long hair cut off.

Blake Burnand, who lives in Thorne, decided to brave the hairdresser’s chair for the first time ever before starting at high school in September.

He came up with the idea himself to have his haircut sponsored to raise money for Harry Priestley House, which provides residential care for adults with learning disabilities.

Inspired by his mum, who works at the Home as a care support worker, kind-hearted Blake set up a JustGiving page and his family, friends and the local community generously donated.

Blake decided to be sponsored for having his haircut because he wanted to do something nice for the residents at Harry Priestley House.

Home Manager, Anne Stobart, said:

What Blake has done is such a thoughtful thing to do and it means such a lot to everyone here. We plan to spend the money on some sensory equipment to promote our residents’ health and wellbeing and if there’s a little left over, some nice sweet treats for residents when we go out on day trips would be lovely.
