Irish dancers join Prince George Duke of Kent Court residents to celebrate St Patrick’s Day

To celebrate Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick, residents at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, in Chislehurst, were greeted by a troupe of Irish dancers from Hopkins Mcsloy Academy, an Irish Dance School based in London and Kent.

The dancers put on a lively and energetic performance, which had residents clapping and toe tapping, and traditional Irish music and culture was enjoyed throughout the care home.

Continuing the celebrations throughout the day, residents tucked into Irish coffee whilst watching an Irish comedy, listening to music, and sharing jokes and riddles.

Diane Connor, Activities Coordinator at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, also organised a talk and documentary about Ireland to share information about its vast history, including the partition of Northern and Southern Ireland, politics and tourism.

She said:

Celebrating different cultures is really important at our Home. We have both residents and staff members of Irish heritage, so the event provided them with a particularly meaningful experience and personal connection.

It also gave all our residents and staff the opportunity to learn, have fun and socialise with our fantastic visitors on the day.
