To celebrate the impending nuptials of staff member Louise, staff at Prince George Duke of Kent Court, in Chislehurst, hosted a wedding-themed day for the residents to enjoy.
The residents and staff had fun dressing up in their own wedding attires or borrowed wedding dresses, bridesmaid’s dresses and hair fascinators. There were music, dancing and cake for everyone to enjoy. Staff with Indian or African heritage proudly wore traditional wedding clothing and everyone learned about their traditional wedding customs.
The day brought back wonderful memories of their own wedding day for some of the residents, who were all happy to share stories and photos. Reminiscing about her big day, resident Mary says:
I remember my day because I was a nervous wreck. Back then we didn’t have a lot, so it was a simple wedding but it didn’t matter as my husband and I were so much in love!
Prince George Duke of Kent Court’s Activities Coordinator Diane says:
We wanted to do something fun for the residents to celebrate Louise’s upcoming big day. We are also fortunate to have staff members from different cultures to teach us about different traditions which were fascinating.
