To mark National Pet Month in April, residents at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, in Braintree (Essex), have just had a delightful surprise when a special furry guest paid them a visit. Lumos, or โLuโ for short, is the eldest of three brother ferrets, and charmed everyone with his friendly nature.
Luโs visit came about after his owner, Abigail, was contacted by the Homeโs staff. The team had seen her story on Facebook after one of Luโs brothers, Jinx, managed to escape in Witham. Thankfully, after an eventful adventure, Jinx was found safe and well, happily tucked under the shed and waiting for mealtime.
Resident John enjoys Lumoโs delightful company.
During his visit, Lu enjoyed plenty of attention, and residents were delighted to hold and stroke him. His soft fur and gentle manner sparked smiles and fond memories, with many sharing their own stories of beloved pets from years ago.
Resident Vera said:
Heโs such a lovely little thing! I never thought Iโd be holding a ferret today, but heโs so soft and calm. Itโs been wonderful.
Activities Coordinator Sophie says:
We know the joy that animals can bring to older people. Whether itโs a visiting therapy pet or a local furry friend like Lu, these interactions offer comfort and companionship to our residents. Weโre so grateful to Abigail for bringing Lu in to meet us. His visit was a real highlight, and we look forward to hearing more about their adventures!
