RMBI Care Co. to explore sale of care home portfolio

Following a thorough review, RMBI Care Co.’s Board of Trustees have made the decision to explore the sale of the charity’s care home portfolio across England and Wales and to transition out of operating within the residential care sector.

We want to reassure residents, families and stakeholders that there are no immediate changes to our Homes, or the care being provided. Day-to-day life continues as normal, with the same dedicated teams delivering high-quality care. Our priority throughout this process is to ensure continuity, stability, and minimal disruption for all those who currently, or wish to, live and work in our Homes. Our intention is that residents will remain in their Homes supported by familiar staff, who we anticipate will transfer to any new provider, helping to maintain trusted relationships and consistency of care.

This decision follows a comprehensive review in collaboration with the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF). The review considered the long-term sustainability of our services, including the level of investment required to meet residents’ increasingly complex care needs, alongside the shared charitable objectives of both organisations. It also reflected upon the wider challenges facing the care sector, such as rising operational costs and ongoing pressures on funding.

We are at the beginning of a carefully managed process to identify one or more suitable organisations to acquire and continue operating our Homes. The Homes will be offered for sale as going concerns, with a clear focus on ensuring that care provision remains in place, and that any transition is handled responsibly and sensitively.  The sales process will be managed by Christie & Co, a leading specialist adviser in the care home sector.

We understand that this news may raise questions, and we are committed to keeping residents, families, and stakeholders informed throughout. All decisions will continue to be guided by what matters most: the wellbeing, comfort, and ongoing care of our existing and new residents.
