To mark the spookiest time of the year, residents across RMBI Care Co.’s 17 care homes have enjoyed an array of fun and eerie activities.
At Prince Michael of Kent Court, in Watford, Hertfordshire, residents came face to face with unnerving animals and creatures including a mouse, snake and millipede. The visit was led by animal handlers ZooLab, who shared facts and stories, whilst some residents and staff were brave enough to hold the different creatures.
Meanwhile, residents from Prince George Duke of Kent Court, in Chislehurst, Kent, made a special visit to a Halloween House in Hextable. Decorated from top to toe with skeletons, a headless horse rider, ghosts, cobwebs, pumpkins and ghouls, residents marvelled around the gardens and exterior, before daring to see what lurked inside. Resident Rose gasped that she had
never seen anything like it in my life.
It was pumpkins galore in Berkshire where residents at Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court, in Wokingham, enjoyed a fun-filled craft session carving their very own pumpkins and seeing who could make the scariest face!
Further north at The Tithebarn, in Liverpool, the care home was transformed with Halloween themed decorations and both residents and staff had great fun dressing up in scary outfits including vampires and witches, whilst playing games and enjoying sweet treats.
Simon Doherty, Home Manager at The Tithebarn, said:
Our residents and staff had a brilliant time celebrating Halloween this year. The variety of activities really helps to keep our residents stimulated and supports their health and wellbeing, and our staff had just as much fun dressing up as always.
In York, Connaught Court held a pumpkin competition between areas of the Home, which was judged by a resident who found it impossible to decide as they were all fantastic.
Sharon Fletcher, one of the Home’s Activities Coordinators at Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court, in Wokingham, said:
Our residents and staff had a brilliant time celebrating Halloween this year. The variety of activities really helps to keep our residents stimulated and supports their health and wellbeing, and our staff had just as much fun dressing up as always! We can’t wait for next Halloween to come around now!
