The construction of our new care home in Bury St Edmunds has continued with the majority of the initial works taking place in readiness for the build.
After carefully relocating residents, Geoffrey Dicker House, the Home’s dementia house, which supports up to 10 people, has been demolished leaving a clear site at the back of the existing Home to begin work. The foundations for the new basement have also commenced.
For ease, a new car park, has been created at the front of the Home, providing easy access for all staff and visitors.
Upon completion, the new Home, which has been designed to meet the changing needs of older people, will provide residential care, nursing and residential dementia support for up to 64 people. A sustainable approach, including using more energy efficient technologies and materials such as solar panels, has been adopted where possible throughout the Home.
Kerry Tidd, Home Manager at Cornwallis Court says,
I am delighted to see works get underway at the Home. We pride ourselves on providing a comfortable care home that prioritises the residents, and with this new development, we aim to create home-like spaces that offer the very highest quality of life and personal care.
