Barford Court can support up to 40 people in the residential area of our Home. We have nine staff in the morning and afternoon, supported by two Shift Leaders. During the night, there are four carers who are supervised by one Shift Leader.
Barford Court uses a dependency assessment tool to flex the support, skills mix and staffing levels needed across the Home to cater for the needs of residents living with dementia.
The Home comprises four Houses, with two carers on duty during the day, one carer at night, and one extra staff member to support at peak times on each House, ensuring that residents with dementia are cared for at all times.
Most of our care staff have achieved, or are working towards an NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care.
We have a 24-hour nurse call system installed in all our residents’ rooms. Some of the residents have a personal alarm to carry, so they can call for assistance if required.
We have a dedicated Activities Coordinator who organises a variety of activities as well as trips outside the Home, to support our residents’ health and wellbeing.
We have staff who are fluent Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian and Spanish speakers.
Please note that the level of care each person receives will depend on their individual needs. This is continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure each person receives the right level of care. Staffing levels may be adjusted in different areas of the Home to support the level of care required by residents at any particular point in time.
